Community Forestry Alliance For North East India (CFANE) - Recommendations for Actions

The Working Group on Community Forest Management in North East India, later redesignated as Community Forestry Alliance for North East India (CFANE), deliberated on the 12 Case Studies, 3 Legal and Judicial Reviews and 7 State Profiles during a Workshop held in Shillong in December 2004. The Working Group formulated a series of recommendations for actions. These recommendations were printed in a publication dated March 2005 entitled "Community Forestry in North East India - Recommendations for Actions". Another publication also based on the above studies and entitled "Indigenous Forest Stewards of North East India" was published during the year 2007. The Group also recommended that the policies so evolved maybe implemented on a pilot scale in the states of Manipur and Meghalaya.
