ASIA REDD WORKING GROUP (ARWG)

CFI has organized the first REDD working group for the Asia region with funding from the Ford Foundation and DFID, India. The purpose of the ARWG is to gather together representatives from REDD projects in South and Southeast Asia in order to create a regional overview of emerging learning and experience. Participants will have an opportunity to present their project and current status to the working group. Meetings will include representatives from international organizations engaged in: 1) the development of social and biodiversity standards, 2) REDD methodologies, 3) investment platforms for community-based REDD and, 4) community carbon rights. This is an important opportunity to accelerate REDD project development through a shared learning experience include the following:

Stakeholders Workshop

In June 2012, a Multi-Stakeholder Workshop was held in Bhuhaneswar, Odisha, India on Community Forestry and REDD+ for the state of Odisha. The CFI senior consultant, Mr. S. Palit, Ret. FS was in attendance and gave a presentation on behalf of CFI. The report summarizes important arguments that affect the integration of community REDD+ projects into policy in India.
