Project

Kila Village is located in South Tripura district. The village has 180 housheolds, all are Jamatiyas. Total area of the village is 1000 ha. The "Ashabon" comprises 300 ha. Most of the forest is reserve lands located on hill tops. The forest is basically a bamboo forest. “Ashaban” means “Forests of Hope.” It is also located near the Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a tribal area, and affected by insurgency movements. A JFM committee was formed during 1994-95. The committee covers 98 ha. The community has evolved sustainable management system for the bamboos and other plants by regulating use.
